Winemaker Notes

The 2015 vintage takes the Rodgers Creek Vineyard Pinot noir to another level! Loose clusters and tiny berries gave them a complex and layered Pinot noir that retains its signature earthy mushroom notes, while red fruit aromas and Asian spices explode from the glass. This vineyard is well suited for growing high-caliber Pinot noir. Perched on a ridge in the teeth of the Petaluma Gap, it takes the full brunt of the wind and fog that define this cool climate zone. This wine is a fabulous reflection of the vineyard site and its unique soils. In 2015 they whole-cluster fermented 15% of the Pommard clone, adding aromatic complexity and verve. Smooth texture and rich, silky tannins make it a pleasure to drink now, while giving the wine longevity.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Rodgers Creek Vineyard has a unashamedly stemmy nose, revealing notes of dried herbs and garrigue over a core of crushed cranberries, violets, forest floor and wild strawberries. Medium-bodied with a softly spoken palate of delicate red fruits and gentle herbs, it has a seamlessly silky backbone and herbal lift on the finish. Classically styled with a Sonoma twist and nicely done!
